Here's a root beer logo I'm working on... any suggestions?

So, today was the big due day - I had to have my portfolio set up for review to continue in the B.F.A. Graphic Design program at Eastern. I will find out on Monday if I got in or not. But, it feels good to just be done with it! I should be a lot less stressed now ha. The board reviews not only my graphic design work, but both works from my 2D and 3D studios. Here's a picture of it all set up ready to go!

On another note - there's going to be an exhibition at EKU in the Giles Gallery. The show is called: Design of the Times '09. It's an exhibition of contemporary Graphic Design and is curated by the EKU design Faculty. Two of my works are going to be exhibited along with some great work by other designers. If you like art, free food, and a good time - you should come. Opening reception is Thursday, Nov. 5 from 5-7. The exhibition will be open Nov. 4-23 during regular gallery hours.
One. I'm incredibly annoyed by the fact that blogger only has limited fonts that I can use.

Two. I have tons of stuff I could post - and at the moment have zero time. boooo One day I promise to post again

Until that time - I leave you with a site I'm absolutely obsessed with. Warning - this may show my complete graphic design dorky-ness. http://lovelypackage.com/
The question I asked in regard to this piece was, "What does the word "home" mean to you?" When our professor gives us a new prompt for a project, he always says to go and chew on the idea, think about it, sketch. He always warns, "Now, don't go in there and run to the computer - it's going to ruin you." So, when he gave us this project, I literally thought about it for like a week. It started out real simple - I got the old saying, "home is where the heart is" stuck in my head. From that saying, a question came to me - "If home is where the heart is, then where does your heart lie?" If you find out where you heart is, then there you will find home. Right? They coincide, or at least in my little mind they do. That question just led to more thought on the subject.

In the end, my thoughts kind of look like this -

The word "home" has the potential to contain a lot of meaning. It could be my house where I grew up. It could be my family, friends, hometown, townhouse, or church. It could be the feeling of being inside my comfort zone, of being around what I know. It could be, a lot of different things.
In the big picture, everything that one could physically call home, is a fleeting glance. But, if I answer the question that came to me - "Where does your heart lie?" Then the answer is this - my heart lies with the Lord. If you know where your heart lies, then there you can find home. My heart lies with the Lord. I am at home in Him and He in me. Forever. Where does your heart lie? There you will find home.

John 14: 23
Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him."

The "home" project is done...after a re-work or two. I'll post it as soon as I can get some breathing room from other projects.
Illustration Class: Project #1 - "Home"

My professor is the epitome of the definition of vague. So, the first project of the semester is on "home."

What is the medium?
The size?
What should it encompass?
Is it 2D or 3D?

That is up to you, whatever, just "home." And so, let the semester begin.

Over the course of the week, I have begun to think, sort out my thoughts on this "home" project and slowly, they are starting to come together. My project is due Sept. 14th - so sometime before then I will post the outcome of the "home" project, and hopefully convey my thoughts on home. Here is a sample though - Sayin goes, "Home is where the heart is." Answering the question, "Where does my heart lie?"

BUT, until then I want to hear your thoughts - What does the word "home" mean to you? Maybe it's a structure, a particular place, a particular person, a feeling, or maybe it's none of the above. Whatever it is, please share.
